Top Sportsman Riders Competing for $9,000 at XDA

Top Sportsman has always been a staple in the East Coast Motorcycle Drag Racing Series, and is here to stay at the XDA! Not only is Top Sportsman one of the classes in the 2018 XDA class line-up, it’s now been made even better!

All Top Sportsman racers have always been required to purchase a 2-Day Pro E.T. Tech card, and they would get two qualifying shots on Saturday that would count towards the Top Sportsman 32-Bike qualified field on Sunday. On Saturday night, they would all run in Pro E.T. that paid $3,000 to win. Then on Sunday morning, they would run in Top Sportsman if they qualified which paid $3,000 to win. Those that didn’t qualify would run in Pro E.T. which paid $3,000 to win.

In 2018, the XDA will be taking the Top Sportsman winner (5th round) and advancing him into 6th round of Pro E.T. to take a shot at an additional $3,000!

Now every Top Sportsman racer has a shot at $3,000 in Pro E.T. on Saturday, $3,000 in Top Sportsman on Sunday, and an additional $3,000 in Pro E.T. on Sunday for a total of $9,000 in just one weekend!

Double entries will only be permitted in the Pro E.T. class at the XDA if the rider is running two different motorcycles with two different bike numbers. A rider can still only ride one motorcycle in Top Sportsman, so if both of your Pro E.T. entries happen to qualify for Top Sportsman you will still need to inform the tower which motorcycle you want removed from Top Sportsman, so it can run in Pro E.T.

By popular demand from the XDA racers, there will now be a separate points system for Pro E.T. and Street E.T.! Top Sportsman racers will earn the same amount of points in Pro E.T. on Sunday as they do in Top Sportsman. Also, by allowing Top Sportsman racers to advance to 6th round of Pro E.T., the winner can continue to earn points towards their Pro E.T. championship.

Jason Miller (XDA promoter) stated, “I can think of 9,000 reasons to run the Top Sportsman class at the XDA! The bump spot for Top Sportsman generally ranges in the 8.20 - 8.40 range, but after this announcement it is about to get even quicker in 2018. We have already heard that many racers were stepping up to quicker Top Sportsman bikes next year, and this is going to accelerate that even more. Every single racer that buys a 2-day Pro E.T. tech card will be gunning to qualify for Top Sportsman, because they have the chance at twice the money on Sunday if they do! Imagine this… going 5 rounds on Sunday to win $3,000 in Top Sportsman, and then advancing into the money of 6th round of Pro E.T. and you only have 2 or 3 more rounds to go for another $3,000 to win! We predict bump spots will get quicker and quicker at every XDA event, so make sure you are preparing your bike right now to qualify for Top Sportsman. The Top Sportsman class is just a bonus race for the quickest 32 Pro E.T. bikes at the event, and everyone can get in on the action… you just need to qualify! I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and look forward to seeing you all at the first XDA event at Maryland International Raceway on April 27-29, 2018.”
