Only two events are left in the
2018 XDA season and racers are
tuning up for a showdown.
The Xtreme Dragbike Association
(XDA) takes Motorcycle Drag
Racing back to Virginia
Motorsports Park (VMP) for the
Inaugural Superbike Showdown on
August 24-26, 2018.
XDA offers a quality show with
over 700 professional,
sportsman, and grudge motorcycle
drag racers in competition. This
season XDA will payout over
$200,000 in purse money along
with a $120,000 contingency fund
that spans all classes. Our
guaranteed purses bring out the
big dogs that are ready to put
on a show. These are must-attend
events for any east coast drag
racing enthusiast.
In June we told you VMP would
serve up the smoothest racing
surface in your career, and we
kept that promise with the
best-prepped surface of the
year. Now with only two events
left in the season, and
temperatures starting to drop,
these are the events you will
see records crushed and ET's
that will blow your mind.
Next weekend the best of the
best will put it all on the line
as they chase points for a
championship finish. There may
be 700 entries, but only eight
competitors will be able to call
themselves a champion at the end
of the season.
Orient Express
Pro Street
Class Points Leader – Chris
Connelly
If you want to see six-second
Pro Street passes, come to VMP
because XDA has them! Our last
event featured half the field in
the sixes, and we are sure that
will be exceeded as several of
our six-second racers struggled
with technical problems at the
last event.
But the six-second passes aren’t
the only things to be watching
for. With the top four in points
only separated by one round of
points, this event is going to
set the tone for the
championship as we go into the
final event in September that
will feature a 32-bike field for
the first time in XDA history.
Chris Connelly Jr has a real
chance of capturing his first
professional championship before
he turns twenty-one as he has
taken out the toughest racers in
the series this year and leads
with twenty points. But Rodney
Williford who is perched at the
top of the Orient Express
G.O.A.T list with a 6.61 can
easily pick off anyone in the
class with a twist of the
throttle. Jeremy Teasley and
Mark Gargiulo will have to
compete against their teammates
if they want a shot at the 2018
championship.
Jason Dunigan missed the season
opener and needs to do well at
the last two events for a chance
to qualify for the bonus race in
November. At the WPGC Bike Fest,
he struggled with some
mechanical problems that took
him out of the running in the
first round of eliminations. And
now at the time of this report,
DME Racing has his methanol bike
stripped down to the frame. His
team will be at the track early
next week testing before the
event to get Dunigan back on
track.
The Penske Pro Street Shootout
will run for a second time this
year at VMP and feature eight
riders competing for $2K during
Saturday qualifying. At the last
event, it made for a thrilling
qualifying round watching
Williford and Teasley battle for
a win on Saturday running
6.70's.
Based on the pre-race ‘Roll
Call’ seventeen riders will
qualify next weekend for the ten
spots available to compete in
front of 30,000 fans at the
Haltech World Cup Finals Import
vs. Domestic event on Oct 31st –
Nov 4th at MDIR in the exclusive
$5,000 to win Pro Street
Shootout sponsored by Platinum
General Services.
DME Racing
Real Street
Class Points Leader – Spencer
Claycomb
Eddie Who? Are you going to let
this championship slip away?
Next weekend Eddie Chapman needs
to show up with kryptonite in
the DME Racing Real Street
class. His rival Spencer
Claycomb has an eighty-two point
lead on him, and if he’s not put
down early, Claycomb will clinch
his first professional
championship.
Real Street promises to put on a
show once again at VMP with the
class growing and the record
dropping each event. At the last
event, we were on the edge our
seat to watch rookie racer
Alisha Malone on the cusp of her
first seven-second pass. We hope
she’s ready to put her feet on
the pegs and give us that number
because the Teasleys are coming
to steal the show away. Jeremy
Teasley entered RST at the June
event, then in July he showed up
with brother Cameron, and now
next weekend Real Street will
feature brother Brandon as well.
Surely there should be a rule
for a Teasley Triple Threat in
any class!
Garrett Burger has been steadily
improving on his ET’s with each
event, and he looks to get into
the 7.80’s. Anibal Merced will
be looking for his first event
win of the year while working
with Chapman to take out
Claycomb in an early round.
Don’t miss this class as they
are sure to break more records.
HTP
Performance Grudge
The HTP Performance Grudge class
continues to grow with every
event. There may not be any
times on the board, but it’s
easy to spot who is fast and who
is just faking.
When you enter Grudge, not only
do you run with every Pro
session all weekend, you also
get the best-prepped racing
surface available to grudge
racers in the country. Show up,
put your best tune-up in the
bike and show us your riding
skills.
And with the Superbike Showdown,
the "Running of the Bulls"
returns to Saturday night’s
line-up. Pro Extreme and Pro
Nitrous will run with a $10K
payout for each class.
Get your money out and get
entered or just start practicing
your excuses to the mirror,
because the internet mob has
heard them all. Who is hungry
for a race with a real payday?
Limited spots are available,

Vance & Hines
4.60
Class Points Leader – Michael
Thyen
XDA is proud to feature the
largest 1/8 mile index classes,
numbers grow with every event,
as the Vance & Hines 4.60 class
features the sharpest riders in
eight-mile racing. The season
may be winding down for XDA, but
Michael Thyen, Richard Gadson,
Boo Brown, Wes Hawkins, Mac
McAdams and Eran Pielert are at
the top of the pack and not
showing any signs of surrender.
This class offers a $3,000
payday to the winner along with
another $4,000 paid out in
qualifying to the 8 bikes that
participate in the shootout. No
racer has doubled up to take
home a $7K payday, yet! Richard
Gadson is only three points
behind first place and will be
looking to gain ground with
‘Crusher’ next weekend on the
660’ battleground.
The FBR Shop
5.60
Class Points Leader – Jeremy
Teasley
Jeremy Teasley leads The FBR
Shop 5.60 index class by a good
margin. At the last Virginia
event, Teasley came in with only
a twenty-two point lead. He
continues to gain on his
opponents now holding a
seventy-four point lead over
number two Boo Brown.
But if Teasley can be taken out
early and then Brown, Lee and
Claycomb have a chance to gain
points on him at this event. But
with just an 1/8 mile to run
down your competition, there is
zero room for error. Cut a
light, look over, and know when
to roll off the throttle, all in
less than six seconds.
Shinko Tires
Crazy 8’s
Class Points Leader – Duane
Jackson
This ultra-competitive category
of Shinko Tires Crazy 8’s boasts
the best of the best in the top
ten of points. Duane Jackson
leads the points by a thin
margin that can quickly be
overtaken with only two events
left in the season.
And with sportsman heavy hitters
on his tail, he would have to
stay a round in front of Teasley,
Claycomb, Brown, Lee, and Fair
every race to hold onto the
championship spot. That’s not an
easy group to keep down. Don’t
miss a moment of action as these
guys roll into the water box at
VMP already looking over at
their opponent before the bulbs
even drop.
Mickey
Thompson Tires Top Sportsman
Class Points Leader – Wilson
Burkhead
If your bike can run an 8.40 or
faster, Mickey Thompson Tires
Top Sportsman is the class
you’ll want to jump in. Not only
will you compete against the
quickest ET bikes at the track,
but you also have a chance at
taking home the biggest payout
of the weekend.
The winner now takes home a
$3,000 payout, but they also
advance back into Pro ET for a
chance at a second win for a
potential $6,000 payout in one
day. James Farmer made a big
move in points at the last event
with a runner-up finish and will
be back with a real shot at the
championship next weekend.
MPS Racing Pro
ET
Class Points Leader – Dale
Hamilton
The MPS Racing Pro ET points
leader, Dale Hamilton has taken
two wins this season and proves
to be building momentum as the
season goes on. He has a
thirty-two point lead over
number two, and wants this
championship! Brian Guarino,
Derrick Milbourne, and Mike
Schulz have also led the points
at some point this season,
showing how quickly a bad day
can send you down the
leaderboard.
And don’t forget, with two races
in one weekend, racers will take
home $9,000 in payout. Jim
Shifflett is coming to VMP with
a win in his sights, he is in
striking range of the
championship, and this event
could send him to the top of the
points with a win!
Brock’s
Performance Street ET
Class Points Leader – Dustin Lee
With every race comes a new
points leader in the Brock’s
Performance Street ET class.
Dustin Lee, Austin Bridge, Dana
Mack, and Roy Johnson have all
taken a win this year. However,
Lee is the only one in the top
five of points.
Mike Schulz, Shayne Proctor, Bob
Carlson and Derrick Milbourne
who have not won events are in
front of some of the winners
because rounds won will get you
the championship. Never raced?
Come to VMP with your street
bike and try your luck in this
entry-level class. With round
one re-entry available both
days, anything can happen!
See you in one week at Virginia
Motorsports Park, August 24-26,
2018 for an exciting weekend of
motorcycle action on the
smoothest surface on the XDA
circuit!
