The Xtreme Dragbike Association
will launch its 2019 season next
weekend with the 25th annual PFR
Spring Nationals at Maryland
International Raceway on April
26-28.
This XDA event will feature
Orient Express Pro Street, DME
Racing Real Street, Pro Xtreme,
Boosted Bulls, APE Nitrous
Bulls, Monster Bulls, Unit 5
Components Brahma Bulls, HTP
Performance Grudge, Vance &
Hines 4.60 Index, FBR Shop 5.60
Index, Shinko Tires Crazy 8’s,
Mickey Thompson Tires Top
Sportsman, MPS Pro E.T., Brock’s
Performance Street E.T.,
Streetbike Corral and a Vendor
Midway.
The 2019 XDA season is going to
be absolute fire with 6-second,
220+mph Pro Street Motorcycles,
7-second, 190mph Real Street
bikes, the new 3-second 1/8 mile
Pro Xtreme class, the “Running
of the Bulls” Grudge Shootouts,
and 700+ Sportsman motorcycle
racers competing for over
$200,000 in cash purse and
$142,000 in contingency!
In only their second year, XDA
owners Jason and Chris Miller
are ready to continue expansion
in all the right places. Last
year saw strong bike counts from
racers supporting the inaugural
season, and this year XDA will
build on that with new classes,
more staff, and new equipment.
The featured racing class will
again be Orient Express Pro
Street where twenty-seven riders
are already entered promising to
make it the largest and quickest
season-opener event ever for the
class.
They will all be looking to make
history and be the first to
break the 6.50-second barrier.
There are currently at least
five riders that have the
performance to execute this
milestone. And we wouldn't be
shocked if Friday or Saturday
night saw side-by-side 6.50s
passes! But the real race will
be to the staging lanes to have
their first shot at the track
and the milestone. The first to
the 50's can never be taken
away, and every competitor will
want to be the one to do it. We
have no doubt that MDIR will
hold the record for the first
6.5x pass.
Returning for 2019 will be the
Penske Racing Shocks Pro Street
Shootout where eight competitors
will compete during qualifying
for a chance at a bonus $2K
payout. But only eight riders
can enter, so they have to be
quick on the draw when the
signup time comes around.
Pro Xtreme has been added to the
2019 season. This new 1/8 mile
heads-up class is modeled on Pro
Mod and will feature
Turbocharged, Supercharged,
and/or Nitrous Injected
dragbikes on gasoline or
methanol, along with Injected
Nitro Methane bikes. Pro Xtreme
will be a points class and will
compete at four XDA events in
2019: the PFR Spring Nationals
in April, the June Superbike
Showdown, the August Bike Bash,
and the DME Racing Fall
Nationals in September. Pro
Xtreme is presented by DME
Racing, Fast by Gast, Harley
Haul, MaxxECU, McCoy
Motorsports, MTC, Rob Bush
Motorsports, Timblin Chassis,
and Worldwide Bearings.
Nine racers have already
pre-paid for the entire year of
Pro Xtreme racing to bring the
purse to a stout $5,300 per
event. With the performance
crushers locked in, a great show
is guaranteed. And any
additional racer entering the
class will boost the competition
as well as the payout.
The Saturday night HTP
Performance Afterdark
Underground Grudge Program is
also expanding with four new
Grudge Shootouts: Boosted Bulls
(Turbo Bikes), APE Nitrous Bulls
(Nitrous Bikes), Monster Bulls
(Heavyweights) and Unit 5
Components Brahma Bulls (63” All
Motor Bikes). There will also be
points championships for the
Nitrous Bulls, Monster Bulls,
and the Brahma Bulls classes at
the XDA for 2019.
"With the addition of the new
classes, and adding the points
for the ’Running of the Bulls’,
we feel our grudge program is
even better for 2019,” said
Jason Miller. "We will keep
evolving our program every year
to give the racers what they
want. Now is the time to lock in
and show us what you can really
do on our 'no excuse' prepped
track.”
Speaking about track prep, all
racers know that it is one
aspect of racing that the
Millers are serious about. Jason
Miller will do anything he needs
to do to get the racing surface
in the finest shape possible.
This year the XDA expanded their
equipment inventory with the
purchase of their own sprayer,
the #KillerMillerSpiller, to
keep their prep consistent and
up to the Miller standard.
“Track prep isn’t just about
spraying and dragging,” noted
Miller. “There is more that
needs to be examined, and it's a
science that has taken years to
evolve and perfect. We will give
our racers the best surface to
race on at any event that has
our name on it.”
This year the Millers have added
Christel Leigh to the XDA team.
Christel will now be working all
XDA events (not just MDIR)
calling up bike numbers,
dial-ins and class changes.
"Having someone that knows the
racers and the classes will help
minimize mistakes and move the
program along even faster,"
stated Chris Miller. "We now
have twelve XDA officials at
every event so we can continue
to run a consistent program."
In addition to the new classes,
XDA is expecting the biggest
turnouts for a season opener in
all categories.
The DME Racing Real Street class
has more than doubled in size
from the 2018 season opener with
a staggering 28 riders entered.
Many new faces will try and make
a name for themselves in this
highly completive class. New for
Real Street this year will be
the addition of the Schnitz
Racing Real Street Shootout with
a $900 Cash payout! With the
same format as Pro Street, this
will also be limited to eight
riders for Saturday action
during qualifying.
The Vance & Hines 4.60 class
continues to grow with
twenty-six riders locked in and
ready to battle to the 1/8 mile
next weekend. These racers have
also locked in their own
shootout during qualifying
because let’s face it, they love
the competition!
The XDA will also hold
competition in FBR Shop 5.60
Index, Shinko Tires Crazy 8’s,
Mickey Thompson Tires Top
Sportsman, MPS Pro E.T. and
Brock’s Performance Street E.T.
giving racers a place to compete
in a professional environment.
The beginning of the XDA season
is a fresh start to grab
valuable points towards the 2019
Sportsman Championships and pick
up tons of cash at the same
time.
The 2018 XDA Champions and Top
10 in each class will also be
honored during the Awards
Ceremony on the main stage on
Saturday at 5pm. As a bonus,
event sponsor Platinum Fleet
Repair will be giving out $1,000
in cash prizes, and anyone in
attendance during the ceremony
has a chance to win!
With over 700 racers attending
events from all across the
world, a massive vendor midway,
thousands of fans, legendary
Miller track prep, excellent
media coverage and a dedicated
team of XDA officials at the
helm, the XDA continues to be
the place for motorcycle drag
racers. Come grow with us!
